1. What bookaplumber does
bookaplumber operates a voice-first plumbing lead routing platform. Customers call 0800 BOOKED, our voice agent triages the job, and the booking is offered to the plumber subscribed to the suburb it came from.
We don't take customer payment. We don't touch your invoicing. We route verified bookings and charge you a monthly fee per suburb you subscribe to.
2. Who can sign up
- NZ-licenced plumbers and gasfitters with current PGDB registration
- Current public liability insurance of at least $1,000,000
- Photo ID matching the licence holder
- A GST number if you're registered (not mandatory for beta)
Every account goes through verification before any booking is routed. We may refuse or suspend an account at our discretion — we'll always tell you why.
3. Suburb subscriptions
3.1 Flat fee, no per-lead charges
Suburb subscriptions are $49 per suburb per month during beta. First five suburbs are free to any plumber who signs up during the beta window. See pricing for the current fee schedule and bundle discounts.
3.2 Month-to-month, pro-rated add-ons
Subscriptions run month-to-month. Add or remove suburbs any time from the dashboard. Added mid-month, billing is pro-rated. Removed, the subscription runs to the end of the billing month and then stops.
3.3 Exclusivity
Each suburb has one subscribed plumber at a time. Bookings from that suburb route to you first. If you decline or don't respond inside the claim window, they route to the next plumber in the fallback queue.
4. Your obligations
- Respond on time. Claim or decline bookings inside the claim window. Repeated no-shows risk losing the suburb.
- Be the plumber you claim to be. Work performed must be carried out by the licence-holder or an appropriately supervised apprentice.
- Keep your details current. Licence, insurance, phone, address — all of it.
- Invoice the customer directly. We route leads; you invoice and collect. We don't intermediate payment.
- Don't game referrals. Self-referrals, duplicate accounts, or coordinated fake signups forfeit the credit and may cost you the account.
5. Wallet and credits
Your wallet holds any referral bonuses, top-ups, or goodwill credits. Credit applies automatically to your next invoice before your card is charged. Balances under $20 aren't refundable in cash; above $20, we refund to your nominated bank account within 10 business days of account closure.
6. Cancellation and refunds
Cancel any suburb any time. No lock-in, no exit fee. Paid-through-the-month subscriptions run to the end of the billing month and then stop — no pro-rated refund for cancellation, but no charge for the next month either.
7. Liability
We route bookings in good faith based on what the customer tells Sam. We don't vet each specific job; we vet the plumbers. Workmanship, pricing, and on-site outcomes are between you and the customer.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to the platform is capped at the subscription fees you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
8. Disputes and consumer law
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986. If there's a dispute, contact us first — we'd rather fix it than argue it. Unresolved disputes are governed by New Zealand law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the Auckland courts.
9. Changes to these terms
We'll give you 30 days' notice before any material change to pricing, fees, or these terms. Notice lands by email and on the dashboard. Continuing to use the network after the change date counts as acceptance — if you don't accept, cancel before the change takes effect.
